Digital Nomad in Sayulita

The 5 Best Coworking Spaces in Sayulita for Digital Nomads (2024)

Sayulita, Nayarit is a rapidly expanding digital nomad hot spot on the west coast of Mexico.

The amazing food, proximity to major airports, great surfing, and slow lifestyle, makes Sayulita extremely appealing to expats, backpackers and digital nomads.

Sayulita, and Mexico in general, is perfect for nomads who work for US companies as it is in the Central Time Zone.

When you aren’t working, you can learn to surf, practice yoga, and eat street tacos. Talk about my perfect day.

But you still have to work, right? Here is my list of the best cowork spaces in Sayulita.

The Top Places to Work From in Sayulita

Sayulita WIFI

In general, Sayulita WIFI is decent – not bad, but not great either. During peak times when the town gets an influx of vacationers, the network gets saturated and it slows down the network city-wide.

I worked a lot from our Airbnb, running pretty intense software and taking calls on Microsoft Teams; my calls would get dropped occasionally and my programs would lag a bit, but I made it work. It wasn’t much worse than most of the other Central or South American internet I’ve experienced.

My biggest issue was with the chickens and roosters loudly crowing in the background.

Jack on the other hand got very frustrated by our internet, especially when both of us were trying to work on it. So he started exploring all the options around Sayulita to work.

If you’re looking to work out the house, read on for my top Sayulita cowork recommendations.

Selina The Garden

Selina the Garden, Sayulita

Selina the Garden was made for nomads. Literally. They have signs on the tables reading “reserved for digital nomads”.

If you need to work casually, this spot is great. They have a full food menu, cocktail bar, and it attracts a lot of fellow nomads you can chat with.

However, these are all disadvantages if you actually need to focus or join an important call. The location is right in the middle of town, on the corner of two prominent and busy streets, so it can get quite noisy.

If you do want to work here, make sure you get here early. The Garden quickly fills up with laptops by mid-morning.

The internet at Selina is pretty good, as to be expected. And they even have a back up generator in case the power goes out (which does happen occasionally).

The Garden is open to anyone. But if you’re actually staying at Selina, you also have access to a more private coworking space as well, equipped with ergonomic office chairs and air conditioning.

Libreria Sayulita

This is actually where Jack worked almost every day for two weeks.

It’s a quiet bookstore, and it sells coffee. The perfect combo for someone trying to get sh*t done. But keep in mind this isn’t a public library or internet café; they kindly ask you purchase something in order to work there. Fair enough.

Jack’s trick was to pay for 10 coffees at once, so every morning they would make him one and write it down. Or one day when he was hungover, they made him a juice.

The internet at Libreria was definitely a step up from our Airbnb, and good enough to handle Zoom meetings with video.

The Libreria doesn’t serve food, just coffee and books, but luckily there are many little restaurants and cafes nearby. One of my favorites is Northside Café for their fire breakfast burritos (you can’t work from Northside unfortunately).

On week days it is open from 8am til 2pm.

Sayulita CoWork

Sayulita Cowork

Although pretty unassuming from the outside, Sayulita CoWork is definitely Sayulita’s most ‘professional‘ coworking space.

I think I walked by this place every day for almost a month before I realized it was a coworking spot.

It is sandwiched between my favorite taco spot (Tacos Prieto’s, which unfortunately has closed *cries in spicy shrimp tacos*) and favorite snack spot, ChocoBanana. The perfect little break spots in between meetings.

Sayulita CoWork boasts ‘lighting fast fiber optic internet’, phone booths, and AC. Depending on your needs, you can book a workspace with daily, weekly, or monthly pricing.

For exact pricing info, check out their website.

Public House (top level)

Inside Public House sports bar, on the third level (just keep going up the stairs) there is a little coworking area overlooking the square.

It is a very simple set up, just a long table and some office chairs, but has great views of the bustling square below.

And the best part? You can walk downstairs for a beer after work and watch the game. And the taqueros are whipping up the best street tacos just outside.

It sits high above all the business and noise of the town, and I think it’s still relatively under the radar.

Coffee Shops

There are TONS of small coffee shops with decent WIFI all around Sayulita to choose from. You can try a new one almost every day!

Some require a minimum purchase, but if you time it for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon pick-me-up, that should be easy. And even if the coffee shop doesn’t explicitly require you buy something, it is just good DN etiquette to help out the business who is helping you.

There is some contention between people living in Sayulita and digital nomads posting up in a cafés all day, so don’t be that guy. For example, Northside Café doesn’t even allow people to work from there.

There are so many to choose from, but here are some of my favorite coffee shops to work from in Sayulita:

  • Chocobanana
  • Bonito Café
  • Organi-K
  • YAH-YAH Sayulita Café
  • Another One Coffee Roaster

Fun fact: ABC’s dating show spin-off, Bachelor in Paradise, is filmed in Playa Escondida Resort in Sayulita. Although I don’t think you can go there to work without a reservation.
